Have you noticed that the current philosophy of manufacturers is to not even bother with common split lock washers? Some engineering circles think that he old locks really did nothing that a properly tightened and stretched bolt will do, and also we have the serrations on heads and nuts to resist turning. If the split lock falls on the floor I don't bother to pick it up.
