Either rents will come down or guys pocket books will continue to decline. Farming for a loss for a year or two can be understandable so you can hang on to the ground to make profits in the future. The year or two has come and gone for most. The short term future doesn't really point to profits.
Sorry.I know my opinion counts for 0 here,but I farmed thru the 80's,most will keep going as long as possible and raise the same mix of crop they always do.
Land will never be "cheap enough" because someone will always pay too much,and the rest will sit on their hands because 2000 $ for corn belt dirt will still be too high with 2 dollar corn. |
