If your wall finish isn't too rough, the Command hooks work great. They aren't cheap, but then again, don't really want cheap when you're trying to keep stuff on the wall. I live with a guy who thinks no matter how featherweight anything is, if it hangs on a wall the nail needs to be in a stud, so I'm lucky to find Commands.
