Northern Nebraska | I don't really understand this whole thing. 98% of the corn here is sold direct to the end user. From layer barns and pillen porks new feed mill to the adm corn syrup plant in Columbus. They unloaded one million bushel of grain in one day, two weeks ago. Mostly sourced directly from farmers. If you bid competitively the grain will be there, middle man or not. I've never sold grain to a coop. The closest thing would be the agrex shuttle loader because that all goes overseas.
A former buyer for cargill once told us that he could source half the soybeans they use from three coops in western iowa. He had to call 300 farmers in Nebraska for the other half.
As a side note I don't know any hog farmer that doesn't care about the price cme price!
