Subject: RE: highway bridges ?

Near-north Ontario, French River
Several bridges around here with the same "problem" , and to add to the issue there's enough room to fit 2 or 3 going each direction at the same time. I've never seen a "one at a time" requirement enforced though. I assume for a bridge there's probably at least a 3x safety factor, maybe even 5 or 10x?? so even if a particular bridge is posted for say 100k lb limit 2 trucks could still safely cross at the same time. The one that really amazes me is the Ambassador Bridge. Now I realize there's no posted limit on it, but consider that it was built in the era of Model T Fords, yet today its conceivable that you could have 50 or more Michigan trains on the bridge( 2 lanes each way ), each grossing 160k or more.
