Fighting suburbia NC

Subject: Water = life (especially for cities/governments)

Too close to Raleigh, NC
I was in Denver first week of October and there was at least one article every day in the paper about the water, or lack of, and how it was impacting/will impact future plans for the area. Take into account that the real agenda of any government is to perpetuate itself and that usually equals more development/more people/more tax revenue which also requires, you guessed it, more water. So before long there are too many people and not enough water to go around and those with the money and power then get to write the laws that further their agenda. Cynical, yes. But you have to admit it is an accurate portrayal of what is happening there at this moment.

Heck, even here in central NC there are rumblings about the influx of people starting to impact the water quality and availability. Since most farms in this area have planted that final crop of houses and been sold the ag impact is not the driving force but with all of the McMansions being built around here that need their sod irrigated regularly the issue is getting non-ag attention. When the yuppies/techies/lawyers/doctors start squawking about it you know it is getting bad.

But everybody knows you get your food from the grocery store so those farmers really don't need all that water, do they?
