We learned cursive in second grade, and I'm like you I don't hardly ever use it unless you count signing something. They still teach it in school here so I'm kind of indifferent about this. If they stop teaching it widespread it will be useless to know it and a waste of time. It has always come down to if you want your kid to know something you teach it yourself.
