Floyd County, Iowa | Don't know a thing about PC Mars, but with QuickBooks Pro, I can print checks, but I can also have traditional checks for those situations. They're just a different set of check numbers (not the same number sequence as your computer checks) linked to the same checking account. You can tell at a glance whether it was a computer generated check or a hand written check by the check number in P/L and Transaction Detail reports.
With the printed checks, you have to allocate to the G/L account as you're preparing to print, or the G/L account was assigned when you entered the invoice in Accounts Payable.
With the hand written check, you allocate as you enter the transaction in the check register.
