Iowa | Pulling off of gravel road onto pavement--looked, no one coming, so just turned onto highway w/o stopping. Just as I was "running" the stop sign, a highway patrol appears over a knoll.
Cop-- "Do you realize you have to obey traffic laws just like you were in a car?"
Me--"Yes, sir, I should have stopped."
cop--"at least you are honest/not trying to make up some foolish story"
Me--"no sir"
cop--"don't do it again"
me--"yes, sir"
cop--"let me see your driver's license"
me--"I don't have it. I don't need it to drive a tractor, do I?"
Cop--"no, but I'd like to see it anyway. I'll follow you home so I can see it"
me--"I'm not going home"
cop--"you are now"
me--"not if I don't need it for driving this tractor"
cop--"are you getting wise with me?"
me--"no, but why should I go home to show you something the law says I don't need at the moment"
cop--"All right, take it easy. I'll be watching for you"
