Subject: RE: Ever Have a Cop Let You Go?

southern MN
Years ago when it was still running, pulled off the county tar onto the state highway with the old 1960's grain truck, got a 1/4 mile, & the fuel pump went funny. Sitting there on the side of the road with corn loaded on. It's not that I was illegal really, but no id with me, and I assume there were 20 different things that would not pass DOT full-scale review, as is typical with old farm grain trucks around here.

Highway patrol pulls up behind me as I'm on the bumper, leaning over the engine compartment. Talks with me for a while, asks me some questions about the truck. Turns out he knows quite a bit about old 6v International 6 cyl trucks of this style. Ended up he chatted with me about these types of trucks for 15 minutes or more. I was kinda running out of things to do to make myself look busy, but not 'troubled'.....

Asks if I need any help, I say no I'm only a mile from home, & the coop fuel/tire station is right across the road from me to get help if I need it.

Ok, and off he goes.

That coulda come out a lot worse for me if it had wanted to.....
