Subject: Re: anybody have or had an ih 3588

South Central Illinois
The rear half of the tractor is a 986 (check the size of the axle), the front differential is from a 574. There were some hydraulic issues early on, most of the cause was starving the hydraulic pump. They did not put enough filter capacity in them originally. As for the couplers, IH was OEM. They are easily switched over to Pioneer, I believe the kit to do one set of outlets is around $180. That is a definite improvement. Fuel economy with mine is pretty good, 9-10 gal per hour under full load. Sidedressing with an 11 knife bar I use about a 1/2 gal per acre.
