southern MN | My cousins run right at double my acres, but there are two of them. They would be a small time operator these days......
They have a 3 year old machine, bigger than mine of course.
Last year the unload auger busted all apart, was in the shop 4 days, pretty big bill.
This year it was in the shop 3 different times in season, finger ran through it and messed up the rotor; a bracket broke and when they backed up it speared through the cleaning fan - that was a bad one parts didn't ship over the weekend right, was down for 5 days. I forget their third deal, but I beleieve they spent nearly what I paid for my combine on repairs this year. Plus they hired 70 acres of beans combined while they were waiting for theirs to get out of the shop.
New or old, they all break. I'm fortunate to have a dealer with a bone yard of these era machines, and while I'm a complete idiot around a Diesel engine, I can do most of the work on the combine itself if it breaks, so it's not bad keeping on. I've had 4 F series combines, the M and the L so I'm just an old dog set in his ways.
Your comments were taken how you meant them, a fun jab. No problems, good thread. :)
