central Iowa | 38 years ago I was a Northrup King territory manager. A farm manager from California flew to Des Moines, rented a car and drove to the first NK dealer he came to.
Ordered 1000 bags of PX 74 - the best yielding corn we offered. The price in California was $10/bag higher than Iowa, so he was saving a cool 10 grand. The company
bigwigs out there found out and kinda wanted to not let the deal happen. My boss, of course wanted the sale , so fought to keep it. They did both agree to not allow
the sale to count on my sales goal ! This was waaaay before traited corn, and seed price would have been considerably less than $100. Can't remember for sure.
