Gresham, Nebraska | I can't remember Chet if you run a nose tank when you plant. You're going to want weight/leverage on the front. On the remaining ridge-till fields to start your rows over, did you work them down this fall and plan on making a tillage pass ahead of planting? If not the old rows/ridges can toss you around and you'll be frustrated with the results, especially with a 2wd. Some people make new "ridges" in the fall to plant into the next spring, but that won't help now. (Note: making ridges in the fall, tilled up ground only then a cover crop, not in standing corn stubble - you don't want to plant into a bale of trash) Would you consider renting a track/gps machine just to plant with, get your rows established and then you should get along fine. The track tractor will stay stable in the dirt. Also I'm guessing you don't have lift assist wheels now - if you do get them be careful and go slow down the road. The crown can pitch you around real quick! Good luck with whatever you choose!! | |
