Southwest Illinois | I understand it but I am not sure what the better answer would be. From a seed company view it pretty much costs the same to produce a double stack as it does to produce a triple or quad stack. So to minimize skew's it is easier to grow the 2 largest demand quantities. So in our part of the world rootworm is generally a non-issue so getting guys to pay for that technology is tough. I view it as the same thing MLB does with ticket pricing. They know that they can get a premium for Cards Cubs tickets compared to a series of the Cards and Marlins. Equipment is similar. I suspect that a CaseIH 9240 does not cost the $25,000 more to build than the 8240, but they know they can charge more for it. Not saying I agree with any of it but it kind of comes down to supply and demand. | |
