| boog, how are ya gonna tell the difference between powdered graphite and the dirt?
Silicone or most anything else used will attract some dirt. IMO, the silicone attracts less dirt than some other things that could be used and is more rubber friendly than some other products. One thing, I would not use Hagen Brew in this application.
FWIW, before everything came in aerosol spray cans Dad used to use brake fluid in a squirt oil can on the car front suspension bushings.
