Subject: RE: telehandler vs skid steer vs tractor w/ loader, forks

Manitoba, Canada
I have a telehandler, skid steer, loader tractor and a payloader. They all have their place. The first loader I would give up is the loader on the tractor. The skid steer really shines for precision work and visibility. The payloader is very good for brute work and they are practically indestructible for normal farm use. The telehandler is unbelievably versatile. It is almost as maneuverable as a skid and way better than a loader tractor. They can be used on a lawn and hardly leave a mark comparing to a skid steer. They have a lot of clearance and large tires so they can go through a lot. As long as you have room to back up you can push yourself out of anything if you get stuck by extending the boom. It has the lifting capacity comparable to a reasonable sized payloader and way more than a loader on a tractor and it is designed to do it all day long. With the extended reach you will be doing things with ease that you never even thought of before. The cab is down low and easy to get into. They are a very, very handy machine. The downsides are the visibility to the boom side, they are generally a higher maintenance machine, and they are meant to be a lifting machine and are not meant to be digging in hard dirt like a payloader.

I have a JCB 541-70 and because of some changes in my operation I really don't NEED it because I have the other loaders. So far though it is just too handy to part with.
