Subject: telehandler vs skid steer vs tractor w/ loader, forks

Rivers, MB
One of our auger tractors is getting a bit tired. Have a tractor that can replace it but it is our main yard tractor that has a loader with bucket or forks. During harvest, its quite inconvenient to have the yard tractor tied to an auger for 2 months.

So options are find a new auger tractor or use current yard tractor as the auger tractor and replace it with a skid steer or telehandler. Primary work for the yard tractor is fork work. Forks are on 95% of the time and 5% bucket work. What would you replace it with.

Have looked at forklifts but they seem to be somewhat limited when the yard is soft or wet or snowy. So leaning towards a telehandler. I've been around skidsteers a bit and they seem to be great with a bucket but somewhat limited with a set of forks. Jerky, not a huge lift and reach. And if you have a load lifted up, operator is stuck in the cab it would seem. Also like the option of having a hitch on the back to drag a gravity wagon around the yard if needed.

What is the wisdom on AgTalk?? Particular models to look for? or avoid?
