You should not have asked because your mouth will be slapped. Lots of data. Pick-up at 45 mph puts out 90 pounds per mile on a dry day (so the equivalent of a bag of cement per mile). The distance dust travels depends upon particle size. If fine enough, the dust will blow with the wind. Some of that (actually a lot) is fine enough and of the right size that it will enter and remain in your lungs for years if breathed – a well defined health hazard. The finest dust is inhaled and exhaled so never gets trapped. Coarser dust gets trapped by mucous membranes and most of that gets swallowed.

 

Impact of dust on crops is dependent on the chemical composition of the rock (limestone, granite, etc.). Can typically see change in soil pH for 200 to 300 feet into a field. Direct impact on crops is a function of rain which washes the dust off.
