No pioneer here for several years. Pioneer salesman put 3 varieties on a field of ours, 2 years ago. The Dekalb Dad planted on the rest of the field, beat all 3 of the Pioneer varieties.
Did it beat it after seed costs were figured in? I really like dk corn but I just can't justify the cost.
Only takes about 5-6 bpa to make up the cost difference here and it has been thrashing the P the last 8-10 years worse than that. Also stands better and dries down better than the P. I will say P is getting closer with 1197 but it doesn't seem to like the wind.
