SW “Ohia” | iseedit,
I have a reprint of my county and township from 1870 and 1891.
Always amazing to look at them and see exactly where my 5th-great-Grandfather farmed.
This region was surveyed as part of the Virginia Military land. Because of that, we are not in section grids, and farms all have distinctive property lines. It is very surprising how many property boundaries are the same as back then. Farms have typically been divided into smaller pieces but you can overlay those plats with a current one and see it quite obviously. Same goes for the interurban railroad that was pulled up in the 1930's. That line is very evident today.
