No. They can and will store them which accomplishes nothing. I had a service call on a Warm Morning stove one time. Complaint was not burning properly. I took out the burner (which was huge on this particular stove) and upended it over a newspaper. I got a small coffee can full of mouse pellets they had carried in it over the summer.
Use a bait they have to chew to move, and secure the bars if possible. And like herbicides rotate your active ingredient. Rotate between Bromethalin (Rampage), Diphacinone (Tomcat), Bromadioline (Hawk), and brodifacoum (Jaguar) Motomco makes several different rodenticides for a reason (see http://www.motomco.com/animal_baits.html)
