Kingston,Mi
There is a similar picture of a load that totaled 36,000 board feet of lumber that was taken near Ewen Michigan in Ontonagon County. The lumber was loaded on the bob sled and was moved 1/4 mile by the team then loaded on rail cars for shipment to the 1893 Columbia Exposition in Chicago. The track in the woods was iced and the team were shod with caulks to insure footing. The description of that photo and load is provided in comments by the Hartwick Pine Logging Museum http://www.shorpy.com/node/7772

Edit: search for parbuckle loading of logs and you will find several you tube videos of a tem loading fire wood logs on to a bob sled. As described, parbuckling is the use of a rope around the item, where the item (log or other load ) functions as a pulley in a hoist. One end is tied of and the running end is passed around the log then hitch to something that provides draft.
