Southern Illinois | We have had a 1070 w/power shift, 2390 w/ powers gift and still have a 1175 w/ no power shift. Had to rebuild the rear ends on both tractors with power shifts. I was told by many individuals the planetary gears in the power shifts were soft and for years we would find shavings in the tyranny oil when changing. Problem with original gears was improper heat treatment, replacement gears were harder and took care of the issue. If they were never were used for tillage they would probably last a longtime. Ours were, so they failed in the 4000 hour range. The 1175 on the other had 4 gears and 2 ranges with just a simple bull fear configuration and it was bulletproof. More than once I had it stopped in its tracks pulling a chisel plow when hitting a hard spot and it would just kill the tractor. Fire it up, lift the chisel plow a little, hit it at a different angle and away you go. | |
