Blackstock, Ont | Think it is a fine idea, for both sides. Years ago when my children were very young, I requested that the uncle and aunt not give gifts at all but in exchange spend a day or evening with my 2 girls. Worked for the uncle, never worked for the aunt. My children have very fond memories of going out to plays, movies, bowling and amusement parks ...with their uncles, This was done at a mutually beneficial time; sometimes Christmas break, sometimes March break and even summer holidays. The girls looked forward to the day. A gift is quickly forgotten; activities stay in their memory bank forever,

PS The girls up until now have always made gift baskets in exchange. Homemade cookies, cakes, soaps, decorations etc. which they always looked forward to preparing too. | |
