Subject: RE: Be Careful When You Back Up a Combine.

Almost happened to us a few years back. I was unloading the combine in the truck, finished and went to back up and away from the truck. Good thing I was well trained to always watch my mirrors, because as I was backing up and to the right away from the machine I saw my 68 yo mom stumbling over the corn stalks going head-over-heels right behind my rear tire. I got stopped a few feet from running her over.

When I got out of the machine I was pretty upset and I walked up to her and asked if I should give her a hug or an ass chewing.....she got indignant like usual. I don't know if she realized how close she came to gettting killed, but I sure did and tried to impress that on her. There should be no excuse, she has been around equipment for 40 years.

Between the senior citizens who help me and my kids I end up with more anxiety than I should when running equipment. I used to worry about my old dog too, but she got ran over this spring.....by my mom.....
