Subject: RE: Stock dog...male or female

East Central, IA
I've raised many heelers and they have been my dog of choice for many years. I don't think you will find a more loyal breed. I always removed dewclaws on pups to prevent future injury, but I dislike docking tails. Those dogs can really use them for balance when working. I did have one that was naturally bobbed, but on most of today's heelers I say let them keep what the good Lord gave 'em.

I've had a couple really good ones. Sometimes I think the females might have a little more try in them, but that's a really broad generalization. My best one ever was a male named Chance. I swear that dog knew what I was thinking most of the time and would react accordingly. I feel your pain on the loss of your dog. A good one is the best sidekick you'll ever have. Good luck. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one for you.
