You did not mention that the 2 cents from the pop bottle would get you several pieces of candy.
3 blackballs for a penny etc.
And if you were lucky enough to find a large pop bottle in the ditch you could get 5 cents for returning it.
Do not remember what a large bottle of pop cost.
