A '65 Bel Aire Chevy cost $3,000. '77 Olds Cutlass $5600. In the early '70s, gasoline was 30 some cents a gallon. Electric rate was 1 3/8 cents per kwh.....now 11 ¢. Back in the '40s there was a summer hamburger stand selling 5 for 25¢. In about 1942 my dad said he would pay a cent apiece for every buckhorn my sister and I dug out... we made $7. that afternoon.
