Subject: RE: Our offset disc experience

Eastern North Carolina
I have a Bush Hog 11.5 foot 146. Pulled it with a 1066 with dual 18.4x38's. Solution the inside rear tire, full set of weights on front. If the ground was tight it would pull the 10 around a little, figured it needed more weight on the rear. Put it behind a 4440 with dual 20's and it pulled straight. So far as gussets and welding..... Well, it looks like it was built out of scrap, that's how much weld there is on it. Alot of acres on this offset and alot of hours welding on the lift carriage and axle assembly. This disk is the sow that would eat it's own pigs....!! I have pulled it with a turbo'd 756 with dual 18.4x38's, but not very deep, felt like the tail was wagging the dog. You need at least 10 drawbar horsepower per foot to make it shine, all the weight you can hang on the tractor and stay out of the WET HEAVY SOILS!!!!

Find you a 225 or a 425 Deere offset with the cone blades, they will cover alot of trash. It won't be as heavy as the same width Bush Hog. Check out Rome, Miller and Amco also. Don't buy anything you can't get parts anymore.
