Southeast Washington | maninblack - 11/5/2016 20:13 On my list of places to see. Is wheat harvest going on in mid to late August??
There is a wide variety of elevations and rainfalls so in the southwestern end harvest may begin shortly after July 4 and going to the higher wetter elevations along the mountains in Idaho harvest may go through Labor Day. Most of the area is harvesting the end of July to the first week in August with the drier areas wrapping it up and maybe the wetter areas just getting going but the later harvesters use more combine power to get their fields cut in a shorter amount of time. Mid to late August is usually only going to show you harvested fields as most people start along highways and then work back into the hills.
We did have a farmer from Clay County in Illinois come visit for about a week riding all the combine models and seeing various things as well as going salmon fishing on the Columbia River. He had a great time and had a hard time believing some of the hills that were farmed. |
