I think it is half the height of the windbreak into the field does less than average but from 1 height of windbreak on out for 15 or so heights there is a benefit to the yield,
Net is more yield in total in a field with a windbreak.
It is noticeable in corn in June in fields that have trees for only part of the way, visibly more growth behind the trees rather than the open area especially in a spring with a few cool days and winds.
Research in Ontario in the 1970ies showed the benefit in kgs of yield but we noticed it in visible growth around the same time. | |
