Only thing about that that's even close to a PIT maneuver is that it involves two vehicles :-). I'm not sure if that device is truly practical or not but one of the points that they are using to sell the idea is that it can be used in and around other traffic. They claim this because , at least in the video, the 'bad guy " car remains under control of the driver as does the pursuit driver. With a PIT maneuver all sorts of bad things can happen. The suspect vehicle goes into a skid, at which point it could roll, or continue on an just about any direction , either way the driver loses control.. It's not uncommon for the pursuit vehicle to wreck as well, which is one of the reasons PIT maneuver tend not to be used when there is surrounding traffic/pedestrians etc . Agree on shooting out the tires though,, too many folks watching too much TV LOL.
