I was reading an article today on how feeding cows moldy hay can cause abortions.
There is a difference between low quality (feed value) hay and moldy hay.
The OP said twice there is no mold in it. Low quality does not necessarily mean moldy. And moldy does not necessarily mean low quality. Just have to be careful what and when you feed it to. I may be wrong but I don't think the white mold causes problems. I think it's the other colors that are bad.
