Subject: RE: Planting with track tractor

Chebanse, IL.....

We have 8RT tractors we use for planting, sidedressing, and 1300 bu grain cart. They work fine. Both have 18" tracks. Berming can be an issue if you turn short. We got the 8RT tactor stuck this fall on the grain cart. But, it was & is wet here & the grain cart was sitting on it's frame.

We have a 9RT we use for all tillage. 36" tracks. Works great. I'm not sure why we'd want a 4-track for tillage....but maybe we don't know. We got the 9RT tractor stuck a couple of years ago trying to work around a slough with water standing in it. Got too close, couldn't raise the soil finisher (wheels sank!) and it was done.

I've gotten stuck all my life in everything from our 1936 WC Allis up to the latest stuff. Perhaps 4-tracks are non-stickable?

We've used both the 8 & 9RT tractors for several years now. Getting by fine & will probably get by OK next year again.
