AIS system is handy to have, and good to see most boats using it nowadays. It tracks boats around you, gives you speed, direction, closest intersections.. etc And its neat to see the names, so you can look up what they are and where they are from.

Sailed to iceland a couple yrs back, and after I headed offshore of newfoundland never seen another boat until I arrived in iceland nearly 3 weeks later. A couple times some russian fishing boats popped up on the radar, but no sign of them due to fog or distance. Don't see much when you're staring into this all day.
