Only time I carry mine is on the mail route or taking a load of grain into SD with the semi.   I've been stopped and the only time the officer got excited was when the gal radioed back that it was expired.   It wasn't, but the state for some reason had lost the renewal in computer.   Sent a photocopy of license into the DOT and everything was good.   No ticket even for no license in possession.
