I got what I think is a good whole house surge protector that is weather proof to mount outside . It is an Eaton CHSPT1 ULTRA.
Supposed to be a good one, ( Can this thing really retail for almost $700 ?? I bought it for $100 on EBAY.)
I connected it in the outside entrance box using a breaker as per all the installations I found on you tube.. One thing that was not clear is how big should the breaker be ? The instruction sheet with the surge protector made no mention of using a breaker or what amp rating, and the you tube videos used a 20 amp for the light duty units and a 50 amp for the heavy duty surge protectors. I had a 60 amp breaker on the shelf, so that's what I used. Any comments from electricians familiar with installing these things, I welcome your comments.
I flipped on the breaker and the blue line lights up on the unit. Am I likely ok or should I make changes ?
