![](http://www.newagtalk.com/mapdots/jonhagen.jpg) Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Dont know if the automatic trans makes much difference, but my 2000 4X4 QC with 4.7 and 5 spd runs in the 18-20 mpg range 20 is long trip miles at not over 65 mph. Driving style has so much to do with mpg.
Odd thing is that twice I have run it on a long seed hauling trip with a 2000# pallet of seed in the box, but following another truck trailer that never exceed 50 mph. Made right at 24 mpg both times. It appears that low speed helps a lot more than a ton of cargo hurts.
I believe the little pickup would make better mpg and have better manual gear spread if it had 3.00 gear ratio instead of the stock 3.55 ratio. As it is now, 1st is a little slow for normal driving and starting in 2nd is a little tall if starting out up hill.
