Thank you for the pictures, very cool, however I am no help on the town.

I agree that the crop in the one photo could be tobacco, perhaps a closer look at your original would confirm.

Someone should know where it is. The terrain and buildings give a lot of unique information.

What jumps out at me is the distinctive elm trees, elms were pretty much all gone before I was coming up.

I have no memory of groupings of big elms.

Those elms really gave that pictured landscape a big part of its character.

Amazing how the loss of one plant can change our landscape.
