Are you ignoring all the other civilizations that existed in the world at that time and before?
Is the Orthodox religion too far east for your interpretation?
It was certainly right next door to that catholic religion that was mentioned, probably closer than the Jewish religion that was also mentioned
If you are only thinking of Europe as the centre of civilization at the time of the reformation then you are uninformed about the history of the world.
At the time of the reformation Europe was backwards compared to Islamic areas and China.
There were also very forward thinking areas in Africa and complex societies in the Americas.
Each of these areas had their own religions that were dominant in their society so the statement as posted was totally wrong missing many other religions throughout the world and even in parts of if not all of Europe. | |
