Subject: Re: anhydrous ammonia price

Winterset, Iowa
$875 to $920, 30 miles south of Des Moines. I was joking with my supplier to see if I could borrow some empty tanks and get them filled in Kansas. He didn't think that was very funny because he knows he is locked into all the high priced stuff he bought last summer. He did say that his wholesaler did have a very cheap price but you have to take delivery on a minimum of 30,000 tons. Of course the wholesaler knows no one has the storage capacity for that much at one time. In comparison, my suppliers big storage tank only holds about 60 ton. So I guess the bottom line is that the cheaper stuff is out there but the manufacturers are going to make sure we don't get it. I reallly think the fertilizer companies should be investigated for price gouging.
