The five speed I drove years ago if I remember right had an air selector on top that had reverse neutral and forward. The selector had to be in neutral but in a gear to get the pto to turn. This may be completely different from what you have but it was strange that the truck had 5 speeds in forward reverse and pto. This probably doesn't help but first thought I had about a mack pto.
