I suppose the layout of the land makes it more difficult to drain.
As I noted because of the high cost of land people think they need to crop every last bit of what they own.
Laws keep them from removing the last little bit of woodlots left but tile drainage covers almost every bit of ground now.

Had a main drain come up to one of our farms because the owner just below undid not like to see water pond on his land after a rain so called for a larger drain.
ponding happens on our land too after a large rain but goes away before damaging crops but we will have a bill for around $30,000 because we now have a larger outlet.
At least 2 people upstream of us have been larger bills as half our farm goes out another drain.

Sometimes think 'natural drainage' would be cheaper but then I remember farming around wet holes before I systematically drained the farms.
