Nebo, Kentucky | This is a story from when I was a kid. It was a really wet fall and we had the tracks on the combine. It was late one evening and the hired man working for my dad and his brother was running the combine while they had a few frosty beverages at the edge of the field. When he finished that field the next one was less than a mile up the little two lane road and they decided it was a good idea to go that night, tracks and all. About halfway there, with my dad in the pickup up front and my uncle in the truck behind, a trooper came along and stopped the combine. Dad and my uncle were hiding 12 ouncers under the seat while the trooper stepped up to talk to the hired man on the combine, who started pointing back and forth at them. Come to find out the hired guy wasn't saying " it's there combine" He was saying we just came out down there, and were stopping right up there. The trooper let them go. Scared the LL out of dad and my uncle though. | |
