Subject: RE: Low cost parlors

Kingston,Mi
I did some manure pit design work for a dairyman who built a 8 to a side parallel parlor from common pipe, he installed 2 low line receivers, 16 used units and 2 mismatched bulk tanks in a converted 4 car garage. He had worked for the first parallel parlor in the Thumb. He cut a hole in the floor of 2 car stalls and concreted a set of walls to form his pit. Hand built a set of manually operated butterfly gates and a cow crowd gate using a chain drive garage door opener. He milked 70 head by himself, cows were on pasture in Huron County Michigan 365 days a year. He later converted to a seasonal dairy. Definitely a low cost operation with no bling or shine!
