Like he said leveling it off/topping out during filling and uncovering and throwing down spoiled silage before leveling the surface before starting the unloader can be quite a chore! Both benefit from early attention during filling to bring the silage up the last 3-4 doors as evenly as possible.
We used to fill 11 silos and unload out of 2 at a time throughout the year. The 30 was definitely one you wanted to open soon after it ensiled and during cool weather! Unfortunately, having both conditions at the same time is rare here in Alabama. | |
