West Central Nebraska - Sandhills | Just weaned our calves, combined average weight of hfrs/steers 523lbs, our mature cows weigh 1050, we are very pleased. We have always weaned off cow to sale but this year are hanging on to them. Feeding high quality free choice grass hay and 1lb corn and 1lb DDG per calf currently. We normally feed just DDG but happen to have a few tons of cracked corn around that needs rid of. What do you guys feed freshly weaned calves? And any recommendations on things to keep an eye out for? Obviously cough snotty nose droopy ears runny eyes, anything else? Thank you!! |
