Everybody tells me you can't use a DP to mill, not built for side pressure. Most mills don't have room for a chuck and depth to drill.
The folks that are telling you not to use a Drill press for milling are correct. Very poor spindle for that sort of thing. As far as room for a chuck and table height, many mills have an adjustable table that allow for them to be lowered for more drilling depth/clearance as needed. You can also move the table out of the way and use the vice over the edge of the table for very long work (3-4 foot long). This works well on mills that allow you to swing the head of the mill over to a different spot of the table for this to work well. A Bridgeport comes to mind if you know what they look like? NOT cheap really and not for someone that just wants a good drill press. Not for the original poster, anyway.
