North of London | As a Canadian it is hard to think about what is right or not in a US maternity leave situation.
Anyone paying into Employment Insurance in Canada can get 12 months (or close to) of EI payments after a baby is born and the employer has to hold the job for the person to return to.
the leave can be taken by either parent or split between them.
So it is hard for me to consider what it is like where only minimal time off is allowed and by the sound of the replies the employer has to pay wages during the short leave?
BTW a lot of contract jobs are available for others to try a job for a year to see if they want that area of employment and for employers to see if a person on 1 year contract is suitable to hire full time.
Those pregnancy leave contracts do have advantages for many. | |
